This 24-page research report examines the current state of the meat goat industry in the United States and California and factors affecting consumer demand for goat meat. The report was published as a prelude to more serious analysis and discussion about the possibilities for development of a more rational goat meat production and distribution system in California. As this report suggests, the potential demand for goat meat by various ethnic populations could provide the demand side that would justify developing this industry.
